On 2nd August it was time for the away fixture of wanderers 2 to the beautiful ground of ACC Amsterdam. In the home fixture, wanderers 2 had surpassed all expectations in comprehensively defeating ACC. The Game started with ACC opting to bat first. They had a solid, steady start and built many partner ships. However Wanderers kept taking wickets at regular intervals. ACC ended their innings with 176 runs with fall of 8 wickets. Premchand showed that experience prevails with a good haul of 3 valuable wickets. Tom Sjamaar continued to show his potential with a disciplined bowling effort and taking 1 wicket in the process. The rest of the bowlers chipped in with 1 wicket each. As a special mention, thanks to Vikas Gupta, everyone got to try some Indian style samosa at the ACC cafe.
Wanderers started their batting innings looking to repeat their effort from the home game against ACC. However our golden boy Vikas fell cheaply edging to the slips unable to repeat his heroics of the past. This made sure he had ample time rest of the day to talk to him mum and do some umpiring. This meant Steve with his injured leg arrived to join Barend at the crease. Both of them stuck to their batting styles of slowly and steadily building a partnership, however due to the outstanding and disciplined bowling effort of ACC, they could not make much dent in the run rate required. In the 16th over with 50 runs on board, Steve was run out. The remaining batsmen tried to accelerate which also included a valiant effort by Barend to catch up on the scoring rate. However it was too late, and wanderers fell short by 28 runs. A special mention to Barend for his 62, and to Dean van Rooyen, who is improving with every game, but fell victim to a doubtful decision this game. Special thanks to Rutger Schenk one of our club sponsors, for getting in to the trenches with us to try and win the game. Stay Tuned for our report on 3D game against salland 2.
